Wine Tasting at Home – Discover the Flavours of the Languedoc
The Languedoc is France's largest wine-producing region and home to the world's largest vineyard under a single geographical designation. Stretching from the Mediterranean coast to the foothills of the Pyrenees, it boasts more than twenty appellations, hundreds of passionate wine estates and an extraordinary diversity of landscapes, grape varieties and terroirs. From the elegant reds of Corbières, Minervois and La Clape to the refined whites and world-famous sparkling wines of Limoux, the region offers one of the richest and most authentic wine experiences in France.
Our Wine Tasting at Home brings this remarkable wine region directly to your villa, château, holiday rental, gîte or private residence. Serving Carcassonne, Narbonne and the surrounding Languedoc countryside, one of our experienced wine specialists will guide you through an enjoyable and interactive journey into the wines, history and culture of Southern France—all without you having to leave the comfort of your accommodation.
Whether you are discovering wine for the very first time or are already a passionate enthusiast, this experience is designed to be informative, relaxed and accessible to everyone.
The tasting begins with an introduction to how to taste wine. You'll learn the fundamentals of professional wine tasting—how to observe a wine's appearance, identify its aromas, understand its balance on the palate and recognise the characteristics that make each wine unique. By the end of the session, you'll feel more confident choosing, describing and appreciating wines wherever your travels take you.
You will then discover a carefully curated selection of seven premium Languedoc wines, chosen to reflect the exceptional diversity of the region:
- Two fresh and expressive white wines
- One elegant Mediterranean rosé
- Two distinctive red wines
- One traditional sparkling wine
- One delicious sweet wine
Each wine showcases a different appellation, grape variety, terroir or winemaking philosophy. During the tasting, you may explore celebrated wine regions such as Corbières, Minervois, Boutenac, Limoux, Saint-Chinian, Faugères, Fitou or La Clape, gaining a deeper understanding of why the Languedoc has become one of Europe's most dynamic and exciting wine destinations.
To complement the wines, we serve a selection of French tapas, including artisan cheeses, cured charcuterie, seasonal vegetables and other regional specialities. These carefully chosen pairings are designed to enhance the tasting while opening conversations about French gastronomy, local traditions and the close relationship between food, wine and the Mediterranean lifestyle. Please note that this is a tasting experience rather than a full dinner.
Beyond tasting excellent wines, you'll discover the history of the Languedoc, its landscapes, the people behind its vineyards and the traditions that have shaped one of France's oldest wine regions. It is an experience that combines wine, culture, gastronomy and storytelling in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere.
For guests wishing to continue their discovery after the tasting, Wendy Gedney's acclaimed guide to the wines of the Languedoc is available to purchase as an optional extra and makes the perfect souvenir or companion for further exploration of the region's vineyards.
As every tasting is prepared specifically for your group and the wines and local produce are carefully selected in advance, bookings must be made at least 48 hours before the experience. Please let us know of any food allergies or dietary requirements when booking so we can adapt the tapas selection whenever possible. Guests who prefer not to drink wine are equally welcome—quality fruit juice can be served as a non-alcoholic alternative, allowing everyone to enjoy the experience together.
More than simply tasting seven excellent wines, you will leave with a genuine understanding of what makes the Languedoc one of France's most exciting wine regions, greater confidence in tasting and choosing wine, and memories of an authentic French experience shared with family and friends.
