A Taste of Mediterranean Occitanie
This private experience combines everything that makes the Narbonne region so special: remarkable history, vibrant markets, exceptional local produce and elegant Mediterranean wines.
From the bustling stalls of Narbonne's famous covered market to the shimmering salt marshes and the prestigious vineyards of La Clape, you'll discover a region where food, wine and history have been intertwined for over two thousand years.
Designed for curious travellers and lovers of authentic local experiences, this is one of our most delicious and rewarding days in Southern France.
Discover Historic Narbonne
Your day begins in Narbonne, the first Roman colony established outside Italy and one of the most important cities of Roman Gaul.
Walking through the historic centre with your private guide, you'll discover over two thousand years of history, from the UNESCO-listed Canal de la Robine to the magnificent Cathedral of Saint-Just and Saint-Pasteur, whose soaring choir remains the highest Gothic cathedral in France.
Along the way, you'll learn how Narbonne evolved from a prosperous Roman port into one of the great ecclesiastical cities of medieval France.
Taste Your Way Through Les Halles
Opened in 1901, Les Halles de Narbonne is widely regarded as one of the finest covered food markets in Southern France.
Home to around seventy artisan producers, it offers an extraordinary showcase of Mediterranean gastronomy.
Together we'll wander through the colourful stalls, meeting passionate local producers and enjoying a selection of regional specialities. Depending on the season and the producers available, tastings may include olives, garlic confit, artisan cheeses, local honey, charcuterie and other local delicacies.
More than a market visit, it's an opportunity to experience the flavours and traditions that define everyday life in the Languedoc.
Lunch by the Mediterranean Lagoons
Lunch is another opportunity to discover the flavours of the Mediterranean Languedoc.
Enjoy a leisurely meal overlooking the lagoons or nearby salt marshes, where fresh seafood and regional specialities take centre stage. Lunch is included and served from the restaurant's set menu, accompanied by local wines.
For those wishing to make the day even more special, our Gourmet Experience replaces the restaurant's set menu with the freedom to order from the à la carte menu, together with an aperitif and a wider selection of regional wines.
Discover the Salt Marshes
After lunch, we'll visit the fascinating Salt Museum, where you'll discover how sea salt has been harvested along this Mediterranean coastline for centuries.
Learn about the history of this traditional industry before exploring the salt marshes and browsing a wonderful selection of local products, including fleur de sel, flavoured salts, salted caramel and other regional specialities.
Discover the Wines of La Clape
Our final stop takes us into the celebrated vineyards of La Clape, one of the Languedoc's most prestigious wine appellations.
Once an island surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea, La Clape is today a spectacular limestone massif whose sunny, windswept climate produces wines of remarkable elegance and character.
At one of our carefully selected family wineries, you'll explore the vineyards and cellars while discovering the secrets of this exceptional terroir before enjoying a generous tasting of both red and white wines.
You'll also discover Bourboulenc, an ancient Mediterranean grape variety that has found one of its finest expressions here.
For wine enthusiasts wishing to explore even further, premium winery experiences and exclusive tastings can also be arranged.
