Wine Tours France – an expert by your side
Wendy and her team of expert wine guides are available to run private tours to any of the wine regions of France and especially Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Rhône. We will accompany you, take the wheel so you can taste without stress, help with translations where necessary, comment on the region and the wines as we drive around. We will book visits, tastings, restaurants and hotels, making for a stress free trip with just the right balance of learning and hedonism. Any length of trip can be organised from 1 day upwards and for group sizes of 1 to 8 people. Prices start from £350 per day.
Bordeaux
Bordeaux is the world's largest quality vineyard so it deserves a little time. Visits tend to be much more than just a tasting, meeting the winemakers, visiting the vineyards and cellars to discover the personality of each estate and what makes their wines different from their neighbours wines with tastings takes a little time and although we can arrange one day tours we recommend a 3 day visit. One day for the Medoc, the famous northern Peninsula where the great cabernet driven red wines come from. One day for the right bank in and around Saint Emilion and another day in the Graves and Sauternes to discover the dry and the sweet white wines of the region. We recommend a maximum of 3 visits a day, the properties visited will be chosen as typical of their appellation and each offering a different experience. Lunch will be booked either at a vineyard or a restaurant offering typical local fare accompanied by a range of wines from the area. We will also book your accommodation giving you the choice of basing yourself centrally and venturing out each day or a 'safari' option staying in a different vineyard location each night so you can spend less time in the car and more time enjoying the 'fruits' of the region.
The Rhône
Both the Northern and Southern Rhône are superb areas to tour or why not combine a trip to both. In the Northern Rhône we will take you to visit the famous appellations of Côte Rôtie, Condrieu and Hermitage all located along the fabulous river Rhône where the vineyards which date back to Roman times cling to the steep slopes. In the south visits include the appellations of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas and Vacqueyras and the famous city of Avignon.
Burgundy
We recommend you base yourself in the beautiful town of Beaune which is perfectly situated for visits to the famous vineyard of the Cote d’Or including villages such as Gevry Chambertin, Nuits Saint-Georges, Puligny-Montrachet and Mersault. The tour can also include Chablis, the Maconnaise and the Beaujolais districts. 3 or 4 wonderful days spent in the company of one of our wine experts will give you a superb introduction to this famous vineyard region, the wines and the food.
